hi everyone just signed on this cycle chat ,on this subject superhighway , have been on my bike for a few years now ,have found these highway things to be very good 4 me as can easy get along as the blue area. Helps to move cars and lorries over to let me keep moving instead of stopped by traffic in gutters.
i am enjoying these summer days cycling to and from london to andfrom work ,and stopping on route home at coffee shop for break.

Glad you are enjoying it and welcome to Cyclechat
Which one do you use? I use CS7 Mon-Fri and it's quite entertaining at times... Like a flipping cyclist's race track on Thursdays (when I go in later - other days I cycle on it early, compared to the majority).

hi ,last week i was using the one from south wimbledon to london bridge .but now i using cs7 from wandsworth to battersea . i find the blue line very good as before this all cars and lorries hugged the gutter stopping me as i never travel up the outside as i am not superfast at dodging oncoming traffic ,and i prefer to take a relaxed journey .
i pick up as ma ny quiet back roads as poss. and parks

Hmm, S. Wimbledon is CS7 though, isn't it? I used to cut through Battersea Park on the way home in the afternoon, when I lived in Clapham J. It's a very nice little bit of relaxation.

i think you are correct im not always precise ,but still on the route from wands to battersea i only touch on these routes as i try to stay on very quiet roads or parks tracks etc. i have tried to go through the park at battersea but have had to change to a road route as gates at batterseaor chelsea i always get confused which bridge is whichit has the tea hut by it ,anyway not open early enough . 6.15 and not open i can get into park but not out at other end unless u go all round houses imean there is a route but takes u out way to get there.i have been working up near marble arch, oxford st. area and so can also go through hyde park ,very busy but very nice this time of year.all london is beautiful this time of year.

I cycle a short section of CS8 - I love it! I'm just gutted it turns south at Chelsea Bridge.. the next section would really benefit from being a CSH!

The next section also really sucks! The reason they did it though was to link it up with a few other cycling routes.

I cycled a short section of this last weekend, and the wider bits were nice, the narrow bits not so nice. May as well have just left it as bus lane, IMO.

It's not really needed is it? It's a very wide single lane carriageway there, you can cycle a good metre away from the pavement and even trucks have room to pass without needing to cross into the oncoming lane. I'd call it a nice to have, not a must have!

It would benefit from being a CSH as although it doesn't have road markings it does get used as a two lane road (probably correctly too). However, this results in all sorts of odd car positions.

Also, holding primary down there can upset drivers. It would be good to have that extra legitimacy to be there. The blue paint does give us that ;)
