Hello peeps, guess my midlife crisis is bicycles and to date I own three, a new Norco storm MTB (10/10 btw), an 80s Dawes road bike and my current project is my 67 triumph roadster, it's as old as me and hopefully once done up will look better :-)
The Norco is most used and I'm really pleased with my new dirty habit, but also love sniffing out the vintage stuff.
So hello from West Sussex

Hi there, I'm sorry that you have taken that impression. Certainly SDV are more a racing oriented group but I was out with BRCC this morning for the Sunday club run. a total of around 25 turned up with between a third to a half being women. The ride was about 40 miles although shorter routes were available for those who wanted. with less hilly options if that is your preference. All riders meeting at a country house for great cake and coffee break. The pace varies but no-one is ever left behind. The BRCC philosophy is very much ride for the enjoyment of the cycle and great company. We have two regular riders who are both over 80 yet still turn up most weeks and work a route that suits them, and still gets them to the cafe for the break. I can't think of any member that would describe themselves as "hatchet-faced men in lycra". Although it will certainly raise a few smiles when I quote that next week!

Perhaps you need to try some of the local groups and make judgement based on what you experience rather than just looking at web pages. The phrase about judging books by their covers springs to mind here.
