My birthplace. Lived around there until being sent off to school.

Anyway, events mean I am spending next week there. Cycling around and revisiting places.
My first home is now buried under a housing development. Probably would not be allowed today. Saddens me a bit. It was a rather grand house, certainly never a farm house

Really, just asking about bike security and safe places to lock the bike up around the city centre?

Thanks

And as is typical of the area, it's raining.
My bike has suffered two successive days of being rained on.
There will be consequences.

My plans included a circuit with an overnight bivvy. The prospects of that happening are diminishing by the hour, no minute.

I was up there a few weeks ago for a 70th birthday party. It has its attractions. If you visit the Volcano Arts Centre you might find an occasional CCer there.

Swansea.... My Uncle Bill married a Swansea lass a long time ago (1950's). I remember visiting them in my youth. Her family had a baker's shop, a proper one where goods were baked on the premises, on Woodfield Road near Crown Street in Morriston area. Sadly now a Spar shop.

Don't know about safe places for bike etc, same as any city I suspect. Don't take any chances!

I can recommend the bike path which goes from Morfa stadium up as far as Glyneath. It gets a bit congested with dog walkers etc at lower end but after first couple miles a decent off road but tarmac path along river and up through wooded area. Not the best in UK by a long stretch but if you want a traffic free route worth doing. Might be a bit green though this time of year as been so wet.

Well, Tuesday, was good and sunny. It's the grey doggy shamblers and the yummie joggers that bung up the paths.
Found the site of my first home, now demolished and buried under a ticky-tacky estate. Met a local who engaged me in conversation. He was also old enough to remember the farm.
The centre of town seems the be Vape shops, Polski Sklep and Charity outlets. Not at all attractive.
But my grandparents were immigrants, from Europe, too.

Now I'm off to the village where I went to primary school. On the edge of battery range.

Well, I got there. Who else went to Llanrhidian Primary School?
An early mistake was not going to the Dolphin for lunch.
Set off to rendezvous with Vanessa.
Total old git cock up.
I know the way, the bleeping navigator know nothing.
So, the bleeping navigator let me cycle 20km of valuable battery in a circle.

Lurched back to rendezvous on no battery for the last 20km. Secret is to reach terminal velocity and then let nothing stop you. Most of the journey was downhill or along Swansea Bay.

If you are an appreciator of the female form on a warm day, the route around Swansea Bay is quite acceptable.
