This is one of my all-time fave songs. Reminds me of cruising along through North Carolina with my Florida-Blonde, All-American friend Christina in a pick up truck singing our hearts out one summer when I was 22. It was fab!!

Sadly not, however, I think, and I have taken up the braced position, that Snow Patrol may have come up with some songs that will stand the test time.

Now taking shelter.........

I was at a concert in Cambridge (Dr Feelgood +Max Hatcher Band) in October 1977.

At the halfway point both bands came on stage and announced the Lynnrd Skynnrd air crash, and stood in silence whilst Freebird was played as a tribute.

This was always a favourite, but after that occasion I have always had a tear in my eye when listenng to it.

Just listening to this great song. Look it up in Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Home_Alabama_(song)

Why doesn't anybody in Britain write songs of this quality?

PS: I mean NOW. TODAY.
I suspect the North-South divide means something different in the States....

The year before that I saw Skynyrd play ay Knebworth - the Stones headed the bill but were firmly pushed into the shade by the performance of Skynyrd. The original band was awesome.
