I was seriously considering changing my tektro cantilever brakes on my hewitt tourer as they were woeful, you knew they would stop you but not sure when. Anyway i had been looking at getting swisstop pads to replave my ultegra pads once they wore out when i noticed on sjs cycles they did them for cantis to.

Ordered at weekend and fitted tonight, whata difference, a huge increase in stopping power. Will try on fully loaded bike at weekend but feel so much better than the stock pads, 20quid for four, but if the reviews are anything to go by they will last

Swisstop are first class. Not cheap but still worth every penny. Not only do they work well in all conditions they last ages too.

Well, that's interesting. I haven't found them to be noticeably more efficient at stopping my progress than cheaper equivalents. They were fitted along with a Rigida Grizzly rim on the back.

I fitted some a few years back after a very near miss in the rain when I almost slammed into the back of a car which had pulled up in front of me. The pads I had came with the brakes (105 I think) and they might as well have been made from pancake for all the stopping power they gave me in the wet.
The bloke in the LBS suggested Swisstop and I baulked at the price but paid up nonetheless.

Never had another similar incident since no matter the weather. Not changed the pads since either. I also noticed that I needed less sustained pressure on the levers on some very long, steep descents.
I just fitted some new brakes to my fixed and I made sure they came with Swisstop pads.

In between here and there
I have gone through a set of the "new" 5700 105 Pads in 3 weeks on the rear, they promote them as 100% better than previous 5600's in the wet (not difficult) not a lot better in the wet but that has to be the shortest lifespan ever for a set of pads for me

Which ones fit the Hewitt stumpy?

Kool Stops for me. Done about 1000 miles on them on front only (the black/salmon pink ones), std Giant Tektro's on the back - and they just get better. Wet or dry. Just ordered a set for the back.

The SwissStops are top notch - done about 3000 miles on mine so far, and they still behave as they did when new.
