Hurrah!

They're not a myth. Every now and again you get one, and boy is it fun. Now if only all these bloody cars would get out of the way so I could enjoy it properly

Downside - must remember I'm going faster, and with the wind assist, need a LOT more braking than normal!

Cor, the almost mythical tailwind has been spotted in the wild again.
Many riders wait for years before experiencing this rare beast.

Must be my turn soon?

I am hoping for one on the way home.....
Ditto. This mornings wind being channelled down the roads was not fun, junctions meant i could be pushed a few feet either side.

I remember the first time I caught a serious tailwind, I was flying up a hill thinking it was wonderful...

until the traffic lights ahead of me turned red, I had to deploy both emergency anchors in order to stop before being pushed into the crossing traffic stream... ;)

Yeah, when there are strong side winds you'll find me going to primary early at most junctions.

And remember the bad thing about tail winds - you're not getting fitter because you aren't trying as hard.
Speak for your self!.... This took me a few seconds over 8m 30s & I was maintaining 20-25mph through the mile of more residential stretches.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Hit 26 mph on the flat with a tail wind on the way to work , i knew though on the way home i would face a bitch of a head wind most of the way , a nice sweeping road i normally clock in the low 30s and was killing me to get much over 20

I had an awesome tailwind today. I diverted 4 miles to the south battling into a headwind at 20km/h and then turned back north onto the parallel A road which I knew was empty due to roadworks ....turning 50x12 and touching 60km/h on the flat for a 5km final leg was well worth the earlier effort into the wind.
