Skipton Asset Management. The clue is in the name, but check out the address on Google. Don't send them your savings!
So the building is boarded up, covered in graffiti, and is up for sale... but apart from that, they are reliable, good listeners, and approachable - who wouldn't trust them!Skipton Asset Management. The clue is in the name, but check out the address on Google. Don't send them your savings!
I think you are supposed to take a look at their business premises using Google Streetview!Am I missing something? Do you think they should be based in Skipton?
I see.I think you are supposed to take a look at their business premises using Google Streetview!

They do seem worth avoiding...
But relying on Google images is a poor way of working it out. The images are often several years old - so that building has probably been redeveloped by now and could well be respectable offices. The building I work in as I write this is still shown as a building site on Streetview.
A good point, well made! But relying on Google images is a poor way of working it out. We (the Financial Services Authority – FSA) have published this statement today in order to warn investors against dealing with unauthorised firms.
This statement is to advise members of the public that an organisation identifying itself to UK individuals as:
Skipton Asset Management
66 Paul Street
London
EC2A 4NG
Website: www.skiptonassetmanagement.com
is not authorised under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA) to carry on a regulated activity in the UK. Regulated activities include, amongst other things, advising on investments and dealing and arranging deals in investments ('investments' include stocks and shares). We believe that the organisation may be targeting UK customers.

I am bit sceptical of boarded up buidings.
When I bought something expensive on ebay the seller gave me his address and I Streetviewed it to find a very similar building in Liverpool.
Nevertheless I picked up the large, complex item having been guided by mobile phone to the correct address but when I got it home and laid it out for inspection it fell well short of the sellers description and ebay were obliged to refund my money.
There a plenty of people who want to be deceived, I use the Skipton Building Society and IMO these are scammers hoping to confuse people into thinking they are part of that reputable mutual organisation.
Am I missing something? Do you think they should be based in Skipton?
