Pomegranates used to be a seasonal treat when i was a kid and my grandmother used them to keep me quiet for ages by giving me half of one a a pin to pick out the individual bits. It never failed.

Moving into adulthood destroyed the deferred gratification aspect of pomegranate consumption and I'd hack them into quarters and bite my way into the red bit spitting out the yellow membrane and making a through mess of the work surface and floor with dribbled juice and bits that escaped my mouth. Even leaning over the sink failed to capture all the errant bits.

I've discovered a new, fast and mess free way to get at the red bits.

took less than a minute.

I found the method by chance on Youtube:

Oh and when I said mess free, I really meant nearly mess free. I've spotted a few spots of pomegranate juice on the work surface.

It was a very tasty and cheap Turkish pomegranate bought from the newly opened Netto near my house. My pomegranate consumption and enjoyment has been transformed.
