Just been watching the the local weather forecast on telly as I am off tomorrow assuming ferries are running. The weather girl ( cannot remember her name) warned us it was “ blowing a hooley out there”. She was not wrong. Nice to hear some proper language to describe the weather. Any other uses of the vernacular on telly that proper people can understand?

A "Hoolie" I think, my Oz cousin uses that term.

My (Irish) parents used the word 'hooley' both for a strong wind and a massive p*ss up party
