I've just seen some footage of the floods yesterday in the north west.

Me and the good lady drove through from Edinburgh last night, and it was pretty awful. nothing compared to what happened away fromthe M6 though. Scary stuff.

Another little reminder that Mother Nature really won't be messed with...

My cousin came over from Canada to visit a few years back, and I took him to the Kings Arms, the pub in York that floods several times a year, and told him about where the water comes to (it's up again right now, although in a relatively small way), and he was amazed and kept saying "but why do they let it happen?". Answer, you can't stop a determined river....

They are saying that this was a one in a thousand year event - a foot of rain in hours....

Ive been known to expell a good degree of lquid after quaffing several pints of silly juice...

I've got every sympathy with those who are flooded, having had it happen to my family a couple of years ago.

One or two days of rain can lead to months (and in extreme cases, years) of agro before you can get back to normal.
