I had money in the bank and had never even heard of Wobbly John.

Ten years ago tomorrow Spokesfest 2000 began and one of the first people I met was WJ

I now have no money in the bank but get paid to do cycling stuff all day every day

You could perhaps make it clear that your lack of money, and meeting Wobbly John aren't connected! It sounds like he robbed you!

Gosh, was it only 10 years? Not that long after I came to Uni then. Somehow by the time we got to hear of you, it seemed like you'd been doing it forever....
