hi all
I have a gorgeous Ultegra 28 hole front hub that I am thinking of building into a new wheel. It is one of the forged 6500 models, not the new ones that look like a bit of flanged pipe.

Anyway the instructions say that this hub must not be radially spoked. Fair enough but is the tension that much lower if the wheel is 1x? I would go 2x if I had to, but no more.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Its' mainjly to do with the angle of pull on the flange-radials go err....radially and Shimano are reckoning there's not enough material to support the hub flange properly. It would probably be OK to build it radially (you're not a big lad) but just don't go back to shimano in the unlikely event you end up losing teeth.

ignore them. what's the worst that could happen if your front hub disintegrates at speed?

it's just a case of falling face first into a few spokes, sharp metal shrapnel and then the tarmac.
