I have just got my tent out to check It and found that it has a serious mold issue.

I am going to clean it with some weak bleach and Milton sterilising fluid to get rid of the mold, the mold is only on the ground sheet section.

Will i need to waterproof the tent afterwards? it is a single skin Vango Ultralite 200 tent.

Assuming its a plastic/tarpualin type ground sheet and u clean only that section it shouldn't need waterproofing afterwards, also i wouldnt bother with the bleach washing off with a cloth and warm water then going over it afterwards with a cloth and diluted milton fluid, will more than do the job.

Do a search - there was quite a long thread about mould problems quite recently. The 'conclusions' weren't terribly optimistic though.

One thing to add is that I saw one tent manufacturer recimmending the use of woolite or some other soap-based cleaner rather than detergent.

And if it's on the groundsheet treating the mould locally might be better than putting the whole thing in bleach solution.

Used a bath tub of warm water washing liquid and Milton... drying it now.

The ground sheet is Nylon HD 5000 mold was quite bad so thought washing the whole tent would be best.

How will/can i tell if it needs waterproofing other then trying it out in the rain?

As you say best way is test it in the rain, personally i'd set it up in the garden for a night and check it in the morning.

Lol thats what i thought :/ I have a yard but no grass to set tent on all yorkshire paving. I will knock up some Timer framing to allow me to peg it out (only issue then will be stoping the dog Peeing on it
