I've forgotten many things when commuting into work:

Cufflinks (regularly), ties, collar stiffeners, laptop, belt etc... however this morning's effort of leaving socks and undercrackers at home is a new low...

What's the worst thing you've forgotten?

Bike lock keys for my bike. The worst feeling because i was late for lectures, missed my train and cycled very fast for once. Still though learn from your mistakes i say.

I left spare essentials (underwear, shirt, tie, trousers, soap, deodorant) at work.

Forgetting keys is the sort of thing that many people do... but usually only the once.

My pannier. Got to the office, dismounted, looked at my bike: Something's missing. Cue that sinking feeling...

I forgot to wear my helmet a couple of weeks ago.

First day this autumn I had worn a winter hat.

I forget my lunch quite regularly. My keys occasionally. I forgot my work clothes once and had to work in soggy lycra for the day, that was quite bad.
I think the worst though, was the day it was my turn to bring the tea bags in. I took the new bag of tea bags to my bike, intending to stuff them into a pannier, got distracted and left them there on the side. I must have looked right at them sat there on the side while I walked my bike past them. It was not a good day, I tell you!

Trousers. Was wearing shorts that morning for the ride. Borrowed a pool car to drive home and pick them up.

Gloves. Got 5 minutes down the road and realised that I wasn't wearing any. Had to be the day that I fell off and put a big dent in my palms, didn't it!

Forgot my lock recently, but got away with it. Work isn't a problem, supper I ate outside, alongside my bike, at a place that was inside, so didn't get cold either, and had got friendly with some people at language school, so two-upped with a lock there.

I forgot my shoes earlier this year - so ended up doing a lecture just in my socks.

Otherwise I've got a suit, shirt and change of undies left permanently at work just in case ...

Forget underpants all the damn time. Leaving sets at work just made matters worse as I'd get slack bringing any in thinking there'd be a pair or three there, to then find I'd taken them all home to wash them the night before! Got quite used to going commando.

Leave a pair of jeans and a jumper at work. Did once forget a top and had to go around all day in a jumper with nothing underneath it, which wasn't terribly comfortable!

...

This is all too much information, isn't it.

I forgot my house keys once, not such a great tragedy but they were in the garage keyhole which backs onto a busy public alley. Whizzed back home as soon as I realised and fortunately they were still there, dangling from the keyhole.

You need to make it so it's almost impossible to leave things.

My bike lock, garage key, and door keys are on the same bunch. So it's impossible for me to get the bike out without also having my lock key.

Shoes stay permanently at work, along with trousers in the week (take them home every Friday to wash and dry before Monday).

Tubes, tools, pump stay permanently on the bike - I have a set for each bike.

So the only thing I can realistically forget is shirt and underwear.
When I move offices next year I'm going to try and get a desk with enough space to hang shirts, and find a local laundry that does a wash and iron service. Then I can put my shirts and trousers in every week, and keep it all at work. Then it will just be underwear to remember.
