I have had a few Dyson's over the years and each one has broken down for one reason or the other. I learnt from the builder trade. We bought Henry hoover and it's outlasted any Dyson that we have had.
Dyson, ours lasted about 6 months till it was given away as useless, there are far better machines out there. Miele or Sebo are in my opinion a far better quality product.
Planned obsolescence does exist. It's possible they have looked at the fail rates of products and designed the warranties and guaranties around those. Or more likely just bad luck.

The original Dyson was a great machine, the latest incarnation is a complete pile of excrement. swmbo can't wait to get shut but I refuse on the point it cost a fortune and still works
