... are also in on the "ruddy cyclists" theme.

I'm not sure I'd call it that. Two of the more level headed characters escape death when a bunch of joyriding teenagers run off the road, and then set about calling 999...

Just getting back into the Archers after quite a few month away.
A quick question to the above pair- Why has Elizabeth got a real downer on David? I know it's to do with her husbands death but is there more to it?

I have downloaded the omnibus from last week so don't know what you're on about re the cycling storyline

I KNEW that you'd be the first to respond.

Must admit that I posted when the accident first happened and it didn't quite turn out as it first appeared.

Oops! Maybe I should put a "spoiler" tag in the topic title, but then, as I got it wrong anyway, maybe not. ;)

The fall out was that David "confessed" to Elizabeth (must be 6 weeks ago now!) what actually happened on the church roof.

What did happen? I wasn't listening to it then.
Don't worry about the spoiler on my behalf norm, now if it was Eastenders you were spoiling you'd be in big trouble

The way I remember it, David and Elizabeth seemed to be on the verge of incest when David said that he had goaded Nigel into going up to take down the banner. I think it was at a picnic or something like that.

I'm not much of an addict myself, I try to keep up because of Mrs Norm's fascination with it but I was mostly listening this evening because I'd tuned in for "It's your round" and hadn't switched it over.

Maybe I'd be best waiting for Arch to answer that one then
Incest? In the Archers? Blimey!!

David dared Nigel to go up on the roof. Nigel fell off the roof. QED David is to blame for Nigel's death because Lizzie cannot concede that her dead husband was an autonomous adult in life who was responsible for his own choices, and the consequences thereof.

Hopefully Lizzie will top herself from grief. Ideally by driving herself and Ruth into a tree after fatally running down Kenton en route.

Let it be soon. Please let it be soon.

She is more upset that David "lied" by not fessing up when it happened.

I don't really buy that. Do we think she would have hugged him to her bosom and said "Oh David, don't blame yourself, I know I won't blame you" had he come clean any sooner?

It has all got a bit too two-dimensional for me recently.

It was Lower Locksley Hall roof, not the church...

I have to listen, it's my family, innit?

My Dad was was travelling for work (late 50's, early 60's?) and called at a pub where the landlord knew him, and greeted him as Mr Archer. The landlord's elderly mother was in the pub, and insisted on getting Dad's autograph...

And I've told you my mother's maiden name, haven't I?

I knew that really, I'm just pretending that I don't listen.

OK, so I knew that church seemed wrong when I wrote it, but I couldn't think where they were at the time. I need coffee.
