The cure to lethargy?

Been feeling a little out of rhythm of late and struggled to establish a riding routine, what with work commitments and a bunch of other excuses.

So in a bid to cure my lethargy i took drastic steps today!

I left my 1.30 meeting in town, took the train home and cycled to my office (20 miles)...where I am now sat typing this..and shall soon saddle up for the return run home!

I've also committed to a "clurb ride" on Saturday morning, (which frankly scares the be-jesus out of me) which is also something I very rarely do.

So, the point of this self promotional, flag waving post is...do you ever feel you need to take extreme measures just to get rolling sometimes...or is it just me?

I think I am one of those rare beasts that doesn't need any motivation or any extreme measure to get on my bike and ride. Whether it be a commute or a leisure ride. Could be peeing down for all I care and I will still get on my bike. Only extremely bad weather stops me going out.

What time you going through Lewisham?

Which club?

Lewisham?...what you mean tonight, probably hit the bottom of lewisham hill at about 6.20-6.30.

Don't know what the club is called (I'm just tagging along with a pal) but they meet at Marden Library (Tenterten) at 9.00 and do a 45 mile loop...know them?

As Ian, I have to be suffering from a heavy cold or weather has to be seriously bad to keep off the bike.

My motivation comes from avoiding a crowded train.

I live a mile from work. In three months I've ridden a mile to work, a mile home and then a club ride once ever three weeks or so. A couple of weeks ago I visited my parents and rode a route there which I last rode about six months ago. I struggled. So thus motivated I have told everyone at work how I'm going to ride at least 20 miles a day every day from now on so I have something to live up to. I can't not do it now (8 miles there, 12 miles home) for fear of loosing face. And you know what, I'm really looking forward to it, after a long 'nothing is ever simple' day today I pulled on my cycling kit and though "oh goody, a bike ride". I loved every minute of it.
Hopefully I can start lengthening the rides home as the evenings draw out and my fitness returns.

Family commitments kept me off the lanes last weekend, and this weekend will be the same. I've taken a day off work next week so I can compensate with a 50 miler.
