This is just to say thanks to whoever recommended it. I got the DVD from Amazon and thoroughly enjoyed. I can't for the life of me see why it got bad-ish reviews. When they finally release the official files, they should make interesting reading.

The one where 'Princess' Marge got off with some rasta dudes, and it got filmed?

Can't wait......;)

This is one of the best films I've seen for years.

10 out of 10

You couldn't make it up - and the sets were very authentic (I remember the early 70's just about, and it was spot on)

(Boring pedant) Except that the rake of carriages in Paddington station was painted maroon, at the time of the original bank job, 1971, they would have been in British Rail blue and grey. That spoilt the entire film for me. (Goes back to flask of stewed tea and processed cheese sandwich.)

The script writers - Dick Clement and Ian Le Frenais - almost made the odd slip with bits of modern americanised dialogue e.g. in the UK at that time nobody referring to anybody as being "dumb" or "smart" would have meant anything other then incapable of speech and well dressed. Still enjoyed the film though.
