One of the guys from our rugby union team was on the panel for the Ireland Students rugby league squad last year. This year him and anothe guy from that squad were promoted to the full Ireland World Cup qualifying squad. He's now in a squad with guys who play super league for Warrington, St Helens and Wigan. We dont play rugby union at a very high level but its crazy where a little hard work and dedication can get you. They are due to play Russia in world cup qualifiying in the next week or so.

That's brilliant news, there are brilliant opportunities to play international in rugby league if your a union player from Ireland, Wales or Scotland as there is such an opportunity.

Please keep me posted, I'm really interested to hear about their experience, league is such a fast game to play

England for me, and I'm not wearing rose tinted glasses either. The squad is good enough and led by the best coach in the game.

Just watched highlights of Scotland v Australia on YouTube this morning

Scotland did theirselves proud, the gulf in class between Scotland rugby league and the NRL in immense and although they use many English and Australian players they did well.

One disappointing thing is the game was played in hull, surely a Scottish international has to be in Scotland?

Yep,watched it and they gave them a good game, although the score would suggest otherwise.

Australia look mega at RL,but I'm watching a very tight England/NZ game and still backing the former

Shannon McDonnell has left Saints now. First time I've looked at the Ireland Rugby League squad. I am shocked at how many of those plays are English, plus the Australian.

Rugby has some really odd nationality rules.
