Here I am listening to Spem in Allium and will be attending a Tallis Scholars performance at Cadogan Hall later this month.

The big advantage of going to an event like this is the early start and finish! usual experience of midweek live music is rushing off at 10:55 before the end to get to the Overground. I was tucked up in bed by then.

I liked it. A lot of the program was taken up by a Brumel mass, which I liked only in parts. There was a Josquin motet (Absalon fili mi, 4 voices) and something, related, I'd never heard before by Gombert (Lugebat David absalon) both of which were wonderful.

Spem in Allium was astounding, especially following more of that Brumel mass. There was a stage rearrangement and then there were 40 singers on stage.

When I left it was still light and I got enough sleep that I felt fine at work this morning.

One more day to Friday, will put the beer in the fridge tonight.
