I did the fridays ride to Brighton last month, and did the Moonrides London to Cambridge on Friday night, so thought a review might be in order.

obviously there are differnces, the moonride wasnt to the coast and the Fridays isnt a business, but main differences were as follows

Moonriders is all 'big event' pumping music, gushing coordinators etc

Fridays is more like a bunch of friends out for a ride

Moonriders provides two snack stops (although I never managed to find the second one) and a dinner stop and breakfast at the end

Fridays provides a stop in the middle (sandwiches rather than lasagne for example) and has to be paid for along with breakfast

Moonriders is expensive and you have to commit to lots of sponsorship, or its even more expensive
Fridays costs £2 per year!

Fridays is a bunch of riders all togther looked after and very sociable
Moonriders is very much a sportive, if you have friends with you then great, otherwise you are riding on your own, in fact I rode home afterwards on my own on Saturday morning and had the same number of conversations as I did on the way there!

Fridays had a nice route to Brighton
Moonriders took us from Hackney to Chingford up the A10, which is heaving with traffic, and dug up

So all in all, Im glad I did the ride on Friday , and raised £1200 for The Alzheimers Society, but to be honest
if you want a midnight ride....Book with the Fridays

So much nicer, friendlier, supportive, and fun

Well, I will losing my cherry with The Fridays on the next Whitstable run, I'm looking forward to it, though I'm a bit nervouse, I'm not sure why. I'm not sure what to expect on this ride, a load of sandle wearing space aliens with six breasts, I shouldn't wonder.

I'd love to do some of the Fridays rides as well as the SMRbtH but starting work at 4 a.m on a Saturday puts a stop to that. I'm going to have to coincide a week off with one of the rides I think.

Ah but you have to do both to officially comment.^_^

I had booked two moonrides before I'd even heard of the Fridays (still got the Brighton one to do in July), so had ample opportunity.

Not that bad then?

nope, the lasagne was very nice, as was the flapjack!

the ride up the A10 was a never to be repeated experience however - and shows a distinct lack of understanding and planning - in distinct contrast to the Fridays escape from HPC
