Yes...I too thought it was a position best retained for a Friday night!

Anyone else heard of it (or indeed suffering from like I am)? It's basically from a book by Marie Kondo, where she outlines a way to keep your life uncluttered and organised...I haven't read it but basically you should only keep things that give you a spark of joy and you have to fold things in a certain way and store them a certain way as well (hmmm).

I shouldn't moan but the wife has turned into a tidying goddess...only problem is it comes at a price! She made me get all of my clothes out of the wardrobes etc and hold each one to see if it gave me a spark of joy...TBH didn't feel a thing so just said that all the crap and old stuff didn't. She did the same with hers and we took the bags of clothes to be weighed in yesterday.

Good news is that we made £73 in cash (if someone wants to do the maths it's 50p per kilo so just imagine the number of bags we took...and only three were mine!). Bad news is that the draws are now pretty empty as the wife got it into her head that you only need (at most) 7 of everything - to cover each day....so that's what I'm down to (if not less) e.g. she made me get rid of all my jumpers bar four of them.

Reason I've put it on here...she made me do my cycling stuff!!! I've spent many a year building up the wardrobe and now I'm down to a few pairs of bibs, couple of pairs of longs, a handful of jerseys and a couple of outer layers...a couple of cc'ers have benefited and a couple of my friends that I ride with have suddenly found that their wardrobes have expanded quite considerably.

So - the warning is out there...if anybody's other half asks them to buy them the book for Christmas, buy them something else....anything else!!! Everyone else should keep an eye out for bargains in the classified section!

I think your wife read into it what she wanted. Perhaps best for you both to Kondo your credit cards when she realises that seven of some things isn't enough.

I've got the book and it does make sense if you do it sensibly. I did part with a few things I regretted so have eased back a bit.

I've sold a washing machine and put some things on eb*y where I probably wouldn't have before.
