I watched my nephews playing basketball about 10 years ago, in an American college tournament.
Well 'bless my cotton socks', I heard that phrase a lot of times!

(And they cut the net from the basket after winning the tournament) - "you're the man!""you're the man!""you're the man!""you're the man!""you're the man!"
No -
"you're the man!"

It's just not cricket.
