We made the same decision, 6 of us were supposed to be riding the Monk or the Nuns, but the prospect of driving up there was worrying enough, let alone cycling
Apparently under a quarter of riders started, hope they all get round ok. Am feeling sorry for the organiser as think they are going to have a lot of cake left over.

All organisers take a risk with the weather. That's why AUK specifies that fees are not refundable - it gives an organiser a little bit of security. Nobody makes a profit running audax events, but breaking even is nice. I gather there were a few sparcely attended events around the country yesterday.
