You're quick off the mark! I decided that I wasn't sure that a dicky rib would be a spoonerism or not so I deleted that comment. (I think it would have to be a dibby rick, wouldn't it?)

If only I was that quick on the bike

Been winding Danbo up on the 'unluckiest cyclist' thread which is what my reply is about ;)

They do talk funny where he comes from but I think it's genuinely his rib he's talking about.

Morning all. Porridge eaten, just about to have toast as well to fuel up. Seems like the wind is going to be as strong as we feared coming in from the East. Hopefully this will make us appear to be climbing gods on the way out!

How are you feeling Dan? Are you going to make it out today?

How much does it cost to Oldham?
So I sat up in spite of my ricky dib this morning, got me kendo nagasaki cozzie outfit on and swung a leg over the bike. Got the 6 miles to shaw and bust a bloody spoke (need to re-tension the back wheel methinks). Rode back home, got the fixie and went for a solo 40 miler into cheshire. Bloody windy on the way back mind- crawling up oldham road is a bind at 10MPH.

Great pics Potsy. You are right - that over the shoulder shot is excellent. This is a real skill. Maybe you should go on Britain's Got Talent with it.

Excellent day today gents. I enjoyed the ride out with the wind best I think. Even with pie and chips to fuel the return trip, I struggled a bit about half way through the way home. Pepped up again towards the end though and enjoyed the fast descent back down into Hebden, even though the road is pretty cut up in places.

Body is beginning to ache now, and I think I'll be a bit stiff in the morning.

Another great forum ride.

What a fabulous day out on the bikes! The weather was super. Okay, it would have been nice to have had less wind than that, but you can't complain at all-day sunshine and mild, dry conditions. :sun:

I was quite surprised how well I coped with the ride considering all the things I was worried about this morning. I did start flagging into that headwind back from Todmorden to Hebden Bridge but for most of the ride I felt better on the bike than I have done all year.

I think the shorter left crank is definitely suiting my shorter left leg. I had much less backache than I normally get on rides like that. Interestingly, if you look at the photo of us at Waddington, you can see my left heel has lifted as I try to stand upright.

It was a pity you couldn't make it dan_bo, but colly was good enough to turn out in your place!

See you chaps for the Bowland ride on the 15th!

PS If seeing how much slimmer Steve H and potsy are getting from one forum ride to the next isn't enough to motivate me to get some flab off, potsy posting embarrassing pictures of my rather large rear view juxtaposed with svelte Gordon will probably shame me into action!

Yes, good ride, I suffered more than prevously, but I know what I've got to do and that is to follow SteveH and Potsy's good example!

Another blinding day out. Once again thanks Colin.

Nice to meet some new faces too, ( Steve H, Potsy, and (notso) Oldnslow) hope to see you all on some future rides.

I caught the sun today my face feels tight and I have beautiful 'panda eyes'.

Thanks Colin - another good day out.

Good to see all you guys again including a new face - Colly.

I'v had the Nick O'Pendle resurfaced for you so it's a much easier climb now!!!!

Thx everyone - see you all soon

Nick O'Pendle mastered now, what's next?

Sorry about the photo Colin, it was too tempting not to take it, I'm sure you two look a bit closer size wise than the Blackpool ride, maybe Gordon is putting on weight?

I'm glad others have said they were struggling a bit on the homeward leg, thought it was just me.

Good to meet another new face (Colly) the list of CC'ers I've met is building up nicely now, 33 I can name and a couple I have forgotten names from my very 1st CC ride in November 09.

Well, we did have a useful tailwind on the climb but I'm sure that you would have got up it anyway even without wind assistance!

At some point we will have to tackle the dreaded Mytholm Steeps! I pointed out Church Lane which leads up to it on Sunday (it was on the left just after we used the turning circle).

Yeah, right! The camera isn't lying - I need to get some weight off.

About that bulging front tyre of mine ... I took it off today and discovered that it is splitting from the inside! I've never seen that happen before. I reckon the tyre could have failed catastrophically at any time so I have replaced it. A front tyre explosion on a 50 mph descent is something I never want to experience!

Maybe later in the year eh? Thinking of you obviously, I'd breeze up it ;)
