I love the colour etc but because I asked for the handlebars to be set higher in a more relaxed position rather than sporty, it has resulted in a number of spacers being inserted to achieve this. They spoil the look.

Here it is. I have a 14 day money back guarantee on this bike. I am wondering if it's possible to remove one of the spacers at least.

Bloody hell...

Yes they are easy to remove, thank the Lord. Just swap them to be above the stem rather than below it. Do this one at a time until you find a position that is comfortable, then get the steerer tube cut to the correct length

flippin ek.. what have you done

Thorn give you the option of sporty or relaxed riding position, I went for relaxed although I hadn't realised it would result in that many spacers to achieve that. I don't like the look of it. If I can't reduce the number of spacers without too much expense to me then I will return it for a full refund.

But then I will end up with the same problem only with the spacers protruding out the top. Just as ugly.

No, once you know which the preferred position, I think you can get the tube cut to that length, remove the spaces that are above the bars, and all should be well. But, I am sure people with more knowledge than me can advise better

WOW, WTF is wrong with the guys/girls at Thorn! I don't know how any frame builder or brand can let something that disgraceful leave their factory with their name on it! I don't know much (anything) about Thorn so I say this in ignorance, it appears to me they have a poor design or a gap in their range if they have to do such things!

I have had a friend move more than half those spacer and it looks much better and the position feels OK. Tomorrow I am taking it to my local bike shop to ask if they think this is the correct size frame Thorn have given me (I can't help wondering if it required that many spacers then the size may be incorrect). If they think the frame size is correct then I will ride it for a week to see if the position is comfortable before getting my LBS to cut the top of the tube off and lose those extra spacers.
