Available right now to you is this brilliant drive system from the renowned Rivendell Bicycle Works with significant design input from the late great Sheldon. It is suitable for all current road/mtb/hybrid bikes. The innovation is the 20 sprockets instead of your 1/5/6/7/8/9/10/11 sprockets at the back and 3 up front, coupled with chains only half as wide and links half as long as current, it is not hard to see that this system offers tremendous advantages:
* 60 speeds!
* Same speed achievable with not much more than half the effort, obviously
* Tremendous ground clearance so no more busted rear hanger and chainrings
* Small so super light, at around 1/4th of current, typically saving over 1.5kg
Best of all these systems will last just as long as the current ones, especially if they are cleaned regularly using the Mickle method, after a liberal spray, of WD40 of course.
