The holidays are over, gone too fast as usual.
I'm sat here at my computer wearing my work clothes for the first time in a dozen days,
my work boots are sat by the settee cleaned and ready to go,
my bikes parked behind me, last night I cleaned it, checked it and put back on it the lights I took of whilst I was riding it during the Holiday and its ready to go,
My work bag is strapped on the bike, packed with sarnie box, water proofs, lock, phone and glasses ready to go,
In a quarter of an hour I will set out for my first commute and shift of the new year,

Get a move on - some of us started ages ago!
Oh and bring some milk in, fridge is empty and we're gasping for tea.

Horrendous headwind on the way in today. Plus two visits from the fairy oh well.

Xmas decorations are down, I'm back at work and yet I'm still feeling very optimistic!

Bought milk on way in so off to put kettle on for first office brew of 2012. So windy here the tiles are lifting on the roof [clouds are scudding across the sky] wouldn't like to be on my bike in this- office is half a mile from home so walk in.

I had a following wind on the way in - 7 miles mostly flat or downhill - so the ride home is probably going to be a tough one.

I think Dave might have had a very wet and windy ride in this morning! I'm in Coventry for another hour or so and conditions are grim.

Have you had any problems with this flat roof?

Got in the wrestling costume this morning for the first commute in

'only a bit of wind' I say to myself. Opened the door to horizontal rain.

Go and get changed. and get in the van. I don't get paid enough for that.
I had a similar thought this morning when being almost blown off my feet walking with the bike to the road.
But I need to justify to my better half that I "do" need a new bike in the spring to replace my 3 year old hybrid, which is getting me through my second winter of commuting.

Worst conditions I've ridden in for many years, wind tail to side and violently shaking the handlebars at times, did well to stay on the road a couple of times, not bothering to rain, just wet from the ground up, like riding under water. I was wearing waterproofs, cycle jacket and a polo shirt, the rain got through the waterproof jacket and started to soak the cycle jacket, but didn't get through the over trousers or overshoes. Dry tonight with a vicious wind blowing head to side, took me half an hour to do six and a half miles.
