The "real" challenge with winter commuting...

is not the dark, nor is it the cold. I cant even really complain about the wet.

No, the real problem is, that the only riders left commuting at this time of the year are all full on super fit, dedicated and driven types...like you lot.


...which means, you are all SO BLOODY FAST!!


Cant believe the power of the riders that I meet these days and nights, off like a shot and whizzing up hills....."Bring back the fair weather riders" I say, give me a fighting chance at least!

Well done to ...well pretty much anyone ....who rode the Old Kent Road last night, I reckon you all, at one point or another, overtook me

The chap I came down the A34 chasing this morning was swift and very smoth. Was in his mid 50's.

I have noticed though, we have another cyclist on my road ! Just moved in, lives over the road, and he cycles to work with a road bike and full kit. Yay.

Not many out around me, with just a few taking to the dual-carriageway route into/out of Leeds. There's still the usual unlit pavement riders dotted about though in the city centre.

i have passed the same guy on a full sus with those "beats by dre" style headphones on 3-4 times this week. the only reason i see him is due to his white headphones!!

appart from him i think im the only nutter still out on a bike round here (with the exception of saturday and sunday club runs) but by jesus its cold!!! i need to invest in some thermals.

I spotted someone milling about one of the garages on my road yesterday - it was dark but appeared to be in full kit and on a hybrid (with a bright light).

Maybe. just maybe, I am now not the only one who commutes by bike on our road.

My commute route is still awash with all manner of cyclists. Would have expected a lot of them to have hung up their hi viz jackets by now. Certainly has been the case in previous years...
