Having just had a few days in Northumberland, the trouble with staycationing is that you just never get the weather like you do abroad do you?

And then on the odd occasion that the sun does shine, you can't find a space on the beach for all the coachloads of blooming tourists can you?

Nope, it's a wonder that anyone takes their holidays in this country at all...;)

And there's no germans to fight you for the sunloungers either...

Where's all them? I recognise the bottom one from the ramparts but nothing else - I have a couple of weeks off work soon and fancy a visit over the Border for a few day trips.

On the list ..English Heritage have loads of places to explore in that area.
One of our residents has a nephew that works on the Vera series and they even use his house occasionally she said.
Wonderful unspoilt bliss

The top four are Beadnell where we were staying, the bottom three are Embleton Bay - probably the best beach in the world, but don't tell anyone...;)
Cheers, noted. And it's safe with me, dinnae worry :okay:

We went to Seahouses, etc a couple of years ago with our dogs and it was too busy for one of them as he needs "relaxed/empty" environments, so I never did get to get out of the car and buy a bucket and spade, chips, candy floss, etc. I hadn't realised they were so popular; we travelled a few miles Northwards and enjoyed Scotland's emptiness and a chippy at Eyemouth. This year I plan to leave the dogs behind in the care of someone else on at least one day so I can go back; but I'll be having a few days south of the Border so will take them the rest of the time.

Seahouses is about as busy as it gets up there.
One of the big attractions at Embleton Bay (for us) is that the nearest car park is a 15 minute walk from the beach so it gets very few tourists. ^_^

My mum's side of the family hail from Boulmer. I remember going there as a kid and having what seemed like mile after mile of empty beaches and sand dunes to play in.
