Works for me, no fail at all - Shimano SPD-SL 540 Road bike pedals :smile:

They are quite cost effective but you won't be able to walk anywhere far in the shoes if that's a consideration

And the Look Cleat can be a bit slick on the bottom, causing a sketchy moment when stopping. If you ride alot, out in the country, with little need to stop, I like these pedals. I have had an older variant for many years, no problems. If you ride in town, or plan to walk a bit, then get SPD pedals. But for rigidity and power transfer, the Look Cleat works better. Loosen the tension, to start with.
