Bumped into a very brown feller in the village where the roofs pic was taken. He spotted Jens's Campagnolo cap and....he'd been there for a month: 1200 miles in what I would call more mountainous than 'hilly'. Italian, he was, but lived in Essex.

We did 60-odd miles on the third day, 1200m of elevation. Up, down, up down, long periods of up, some of it genuinely brutal. What larks, Pip, what larks!

Looks lovely, have fun. I like Italy but have never ridden there, I'd like to ride the Amalfi coast.

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...

Bingo. That's the Cat and Fiddle. I recognise those whitewashed Macclesfield houses anywhere
Nah! It's Monsal Head.
He is riding on the left in the above pic which does give the game away....

Oops, that was a bit dumb! Sorry, it's the 'hills' inland of Malaga, which turned out to be a helluvalot hillier than we'd been led to believe. Great riding tho'...and the roads were much better than we'd feared (and the driving, almost without exception, exemplary).

Not steep tho'. Very pleasant gradients indeed. Wish you said you were going - I'd have joined you
