Things to do near Avignon...

Looking for some guidance from the CC massive (or should it be Massif?).
Planning a trip south and looking for things to do in Provence, east of Avignon, sort of Manosque area. Can you make any recommendations for the following springtime activities?

1 - looking for some mountain biking.
2 - fancy some horse riding/ hacking
3 - maybe a few days of watersports on the coast
4 - a bit of heritage
5 - food and vineyards

The benefits of your collective wisdom would be really appreciated,

There's a certain nearby hill that could be worth a look...
Failing that, the Pont de Gard is somewhat impressive, the local food and wine are well worth a try.
There's lots of walking, but I know little of this 'horseriding' of which you speak.

You used to be able to walk along the top of the Pont du Gard and inside the top where the water used to flow when it was totally neglected. It was quite a spectacular experience. But then the killjoys of the EU put a stop to it and now I believe it costs an arm and a leg to even think of going to look at it. It's some sort of heritage site now and one huge money generating honey trap swarmed on by tourist coaches and camper vans. You might now even have to pay to breath the air when walking on or near it.

The Ardech gorge and Vallon Pont D'Arc is about one hour from Avignon and is worth a visit. Great if you are into canoeing. Again a bit touristy in summer and lots of buses clogging up the roads.

East of Avignon you could climb the Ventoux ...............

I did read your post. Look, I quoted it and highlighted some!!
I'm just pointing out that 18 euro for a family to go to the Pont du Gard is hardly an arm and a leg.
Go at a time when the shops, bars and displays are shut and it's 10 euro. For up to five people.
And as far as I know the air near it is not metered or subject to any kind of 'pay-per-breath' restriction.
I went there in August and it was hardly over-run with coaches.
Sorry, does that make me a miserable whatever-it-was-you-said?

It sneered at me for miles as I approached Orange. It worked. If ever there was an intimidating target, Ventoux takes some beating. I was psyched out and found Avignon a more alluring destination even if their pont awaits completion. Must be a record for project over run.

I doesn't cost anything to visit the Pont du Gard. Go over the bridge at Remoulins, turn right up the lane with the river on your right, this will take you to the PdG bypassing the visitors centre.

But not at Midday in late July with the temp at 100F ..... unless you're just coming down on very grippy tyres and then it's frikkin' awesome!
