In counerpoint to the "Things you really wanted as a kid (but never got)" thread.
Me, 3 come to mind.
On my 4th birthday I was given a set of golf clubs. Not the vacuum molded stuff. Wooden shafts, solid plastic heads all with different angles, putter, driver, woods & irons. The balls were the practice type that didn't go anywhere. Loved it.
Around the same age one Christmas I was stuck for ideas to ask for Santa. Eventually my Dad suggested I ask for roller skates, so I put this down on the letter and put it in the fire before going to bed. When I woke up the next morning, would you believe it!!! Santa had read my letter and got me some!!
Another Christmas one, this time when I was around 12. On the lawn was a present to share with my brother, a 2 man kayak. We had a river running through the garden (old mill) and we spent ages over the next few years going off for a paddle. Many happy memories.
