In counerpoint to the "Things you really wanted as a kid (but never got)" thread.

Me, 3 come to mind.

On my 4th birthday I was given a set of golf clubs. Not the vacuum molded stuff. Wooden shafts, solid plastic heads all with different angles, putter, driver, woods & irons. The balls were the practice type that didn't go anywhere. Loved it.

Around the same age one Christmas I was stuck for ideas to ask for Santa. Eventually my Dad suggested I ask for roller skates, so I put this down on the letter and put it in the fire before going to bed. When I woke up the next morning, would you believe it!!! Santa had read my letter and got me some!!

Another Christmas one, this time when I was around 12. On the lawn was a present to share with my brother, a 2 man kayak. We had a river running through the garden (old mill) and we spent ages over the next few years going off for a paddle. Many happy memories.

I wanted lots of M.A.S.K toys when i was 9, i was in a word obsessed.
come christmas morning there are HUGE piles of toys in brilliant red wrapping paper and i tore into them like a possessed child.
i LOVED those toys, i ended up with the mountain base, the truck the bad guys plane/chopper a load of other vehicles i can't even name anymore and allsorts.
not to mention the obligatory stylaphone and assorted selection boxes and stuff.
that year there were so many presents my sister started crying her eyes out, she didn't know which to open first.

few years later in high school i was into my art in a big way, mostly pencil stuff (reading way too much 2000AD) and i didn't really know what i wanted.
when i woke up to go the loo i banged into an art desk that had suddenly appeared in my room!

When I was 4 or 5, I, for some daft reason, was obsessed with Bowls, so, at Christmas, I got one of those sets of mini bowls and a little green carpet to go with it.
I spent HOURS in the hall playing with that thing, and it was a favourite when relatives came to visit!
I was actually pretty decent at playing too! :becool:

When I was 14, a bike. A silver Raleigh Max Ogre (Straight from Halfords, and later to become 'The Tank'). It was the first brand new bike I ever had, and I loved it!
