Thinking of getting two bike

Overkill? No. It's just n+1 getting started in advance.

I have 4 bikes now

Are you going to compete in CX or is it for the road and the Crosstrail other rougher stuff? If so, get a road bike + Crosstrail or just the CX (or look at an MTB or 29er, a suspension hybrid isn't really one or the other)

That said if you have space and cash to burn, go for it

That's two kinda similar bikes. I'd just get one and see how you get on. Your opinion on what you want/need may change once you start riding.

I have 4 bikes, each one gets used almost every week so less wear and tear on each one
