A young constable once asked me how he went about arranging a rail warrant for a man living in Halifax, who was stranded in Scotland. I told him to fax the warrant off to Scotland, and they would send the money on. I had a bit of a giggle when the Scots cop faxed the young officer a twenty pound note. The youngster then turned to me and asked me how it worked next. I told him to put the fax of the £20 in the safe and admin would cash it later. He then told me the actual cost of the warrant was 17.50. I told him to fax them the change, so he did. He copied £2.50 on the photocopier and faxed the copy off to Scotland,. They were obviously bored that evening as they then faxed him a receipt.
