...a 6800 mile freewheel looks like!

It's worn, wobbly and a bit noisy, but it still functions as a freewheel. And it cost less than a tenner in 2011.

Of course, I've replaced it with another NOS Shimano DX one...

TBH most components bar tyres, tubes and bar tape ought to last 7000 miles or more, if not some of us on here such as @ianrauk and @SatNavSaysStraightOn etc would have to have a new bike every year

What?

Some tend to regard freewheels as disposable and that you have to pay £75 for a White Brothers one for it to be any good. That was the point of my post; I wasn't trying to make you feel inadequate...
