Hi all!

I'm looking at a KTM Strada 2000, equiped with a Shimano 105 10 speed Triple (5703) 50-39-30 and 105 derailleur.

Does anyone know if I can change the 105 Cassette (11-28 ) for a Tiagra 10 speed 12-30 cassette ? Any issues with rear derailleur?

Thanks!

Is the 105 rear derailleur one of the long caged ones (i know the tiagra triple mech is a long cage but unsure of there is a 105 equivalent)? If so, then you should be fine.

On my secteur tripple with 105 (5600) I tried the 12-30 cassette and there was a slight contact between the upper jockey wheel and the 30 tooth tiagra cassette. That was with the original 2010 RD-5600 rear mech.

I changed it to the later 105 (rd 5701 medium cage as its on a tripple) and that works fine.

So, have a look on the back of the parrellel motion on your rear mech, if it has RD-5701 I would guess it will work, and I suspect this is what you have.

If you have a RD-5700 I would guess it wont work, but you might be luck and have a hanger that is longer than normal, and a bit of B-screw jiggery pokery might see you right.

Thanks guys. KTM's site doesn't mention which 105 rear derailleur it is and the photo on the site shows the compact, not the triple.

So, order it and see I guess!

As you have 5703 Im guessing you have the current one and you should be ok.

Incidentally, I was worried the 12-30 would have noticable gaps between the gears and thought I would only use it for known hilly rides. In reality, I doubt I would notice the difference in that respect between the 27 tooth cassette... Except for going uphill! Im not a climber but having the 30 gives me a chance of getting up most things I come across.

Still wont get me up Mow Cop though

I don't have the bike yet, will order it from the LBS on Tuesday

I too struggle on the hills (and I'm surrounded by the buggers...)

Cheers all!

Heh, unfortunately, as the groupset will be new, the LBS is swapping it out and keeping the 105 cassette..
