Tight Tyres (& Replacements)

I had a puncture today on the Ribble (my work/'winter' bike - one of their aluminium 'Audax' models)
It has a Tiagra groupset, but for the point of this enquiry, it's on the standard (as per basic specification) wheels/tyres;

Yaw 'Nitro' tyres ('23') http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...-track-rigid-yaw-nitro-rigid-tyre/yawatyrr200

Rodi Airline 4 wheels http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/ro...i-airline-4-clinchers-wheels-pair/rodiwhfr200

Whilst they seem to roll okay (after re-packing the bearings - within a fortnight!!), they're a complete nightmare of a combination to separate!

Todays puncture was caused by the (standard) rim-tape splitting & allowing the tube to deform onto the spoke hole & blowing
I changed the tube at dinner-time - after much struggling, & also replaced the rim-tape with some 1/2" cloth tape that I found (two layers)
However, that tube blew on inflation:cursing::cursing: (later inspection at home revealed a patch had partially lifted

So...... I had to push it home....... in all that rain:banghead:

On getting home, I struggled once more to remove the tyre, breaking a lever in the process!!, as the tyres were extremely reluctant to part company from the rim

Can I have a few recommendations on decent rubber for it (bearing in mind the fairly tight fit, with ever '23' tyres under the mudguards)
Nothing too fancy, lightweight, or expensive
But, mainly, something that'll come off the rim easily!!!!

I have Continenttal UItraSport Kevlar on my Ridley & like their handling, or have I perhaps answered my own question there????

Moral of the story; keep at least one spare tube (& a puncture repair kit?) in the locker at work (in addition to carried supplies)

Very frustrating for you.
I never carry a patched tube as a spare. If I have to patch a tube during a ride, and it stays up, I leave it in there but otherwise...............
