Good Evening,

I didn't really know where to post this so apologies if this is in the wrong area..

I havent ridden with any clubs yet however i wanted to see if there is any way anyone can gauge where i should be pitching myself when it comes to meeting up with a local club and going out on a Sunday ride.

Yesterday i cycled:

  • 84.9km
    Distance
  • 3:16:14
    Moving Time
  • 464m
With an average speed of 26KPH

Everyone i have spoken to has said thats a good time but i am not sure if they are just saying that without really taking to much notice.

I have tried to have a look on Strava etc for any comparisons but to no avail.

I'm happy to be told that you are still very much in the amateur group, no problem with that. I would rather turn up for a group ride and say this is where i think i should be rather than head out with the bigger boys and be dropped!

Our club has dozens of ride outs every week, all different speeds and distances, some only have 1 rider on. That is the nature of a cycling club, we have many members who do not cycle any more and quite a few very quick lads and lassies, you will soon find where you fit in.

You'll be fine that's a good speed, you'll find most evening club rides are shorter usually 2 hours / 30+ miles

Chain Gangs are quite different, but you'd be right at home in the B group of the club I ride with.
