I've got a single speed Bianchi Pista that I LOVE, but it obviously has its limitations....i.e. Hills and the like^_^, of whicht there a MANY here in Norway... So project "Proper Road Bike" has been started.
Just bought this 58cm Reparto Corse frame in celeste from about 2004 in London for a brilliant price with a carbon fork, and am lucky enough to have in-laws in Italy to ship it to.
Will endeavour to have it built up there as a custom, with as many Italian parts as possible, i.e. Campy instead of Shimano etc.

PLEASE give me some tips. Looking to spend up to £1000-1300 and make a good comfortable training tool, and would appreciate som ideas on gear sets, wheels etc..

How the hell do I add proper attachments/pictures here....?

For a classical Italian build I would go Centaur throughout, handbuilt Ambrosio Excellight wheels on hubs of your choice, and finishing kit to suit remainder of your budget. Alloy should be fine, maybe consider a carbon seatpost.

Hmmm. Rather terrifyingly I have found this.

You could move all across to your Bianchi frame and save a few quid, but it's a superior frame so now what

Have no fear VamP! I suspect the OP would not consider a Ribble plastic carbon frame, no matter how much lighter and faster, "superior" to a genuine celeste Reparto Corse... Like Raleigh SBDU's, those frames are usually bought as much if not more for what they represent, how they were built, etc.

This is great, good tips already- Love the Mavic rims :-)
Will post pics of the frame! But WHY isn't there an attachment function here on this blimmin forum!? It asks me for a URL for the pic, what is this, 2001?

SORRY, I'm the stupid one, not the Forum..
Here is the frame !

Nice one, I did exactly the same, although mine came with bars, ultegra shifters, ultegra crankset, 105 brakes, derailleurs. Just added a carbon seatpost and new wheels. Only problem is I have found out it is too bloody small for me:cry:

Sure, if he's emotionally attached to the RC he can flog the plastic.

I've seen some lovely older frames (and retro-style new ones) with Athena (silver finish chainset, naturally), if your budget will stretch to it.

Athena isn't much more than Centaur. But I avoid it due to lack of compatibility with 10 speed stuff that resides on my other bikes. That may or may not be a consideration for the OP.

to build a good bike you absolutely need to get forks that match the frame (the correct rake, offset etc.) - looks like you have that sorted so you can't go wrong with the rest

Great advice so far, thanks!
Feel like starting with a decent standard Bianchi carbon seat post, San Marco seat and then start saving up for Centaur bits... Saw some nice Zipp wheels in a shop yesterday, silly of me to ask for a price......£1600 for the pair .OUCH. Not buying those methinks
