Just an idea, but as a noob I have about 2,000 stupid questions I feel like asking but don't like to..... A - bother the regs or... B - appear more nooby than I am - so I was wondering if a noob question thread might be worth a go? then if some of the more helpful regs who'd like to help a struggling beginner want to they can help...and the more disdainful can not be constantly bothered with pathetic questions off the likes of me - just a thought.

depending on your questions, i would like to point you to bikeradar - there is a good FAQ section that you can browse through.

I doubt all 2,000 of your question will be stupid so feel free to ask - remember you need a tough skin to post on internet forums as inevitably at some point you can expect to get the piss ripped out of ya!!

Just ask away in the pertinent sub section of the forum if possible, people here are a lot friendlier than bike radar and in general someone will not post a omfg not another question regarding XXX and if they did they would be shot down asap .
With regards to a permanet thread i think it might be a good idea but as technolgy is advancing at a fair pace it would need updating to often .

Yes, do just ask. For every question you ask, there are probably several other people (members or lurkers) who are wondering the same thing, but are afraid they'll get laughed at and treated as if they're stupid if they ask.

This is the friendliest forum I've ever found online. And I really mean the friendliest forum, not just the friendliest cycling forum.

Thanks for the answers and yes Lulubel is right - a look at singletrack forum shows how good this one is re:noobs. I'll start a 2,000 part thread then...^_^

There's the beginners forum or the MTB forum, if that's appropriate to your questions, but many (most?) CCers use 'View new posts' so, as long as you title the thread suitably, it doesn't really matter which forum is used to many on here.

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask......

What's the difference between permanent noob and beginner? Just stick them in the beginner/ appropriate section and you'll be fine- we're all learning.
Try though to do a search before you post to make sure it's not covered in detail elsewhere- this avoids 'What is Strava?' questions.

To quote online gaming analogy (yes i was into a mmorpg big time a few years ago )
NEWB= beginner

N00B = someone who should know better but constantly does /asks things they should know

eg leeroy jenkins ..
(not the game i played )

It is the game I play - the only one that's worth playing ;) The interface looks a bit dated, so I guess it's an old vid, though.
