Hi,

I am off to Tobago in a few weeks and from what I gather they have a bit of a cycling scene there. Can't seem to find anyone hiring road bikes and Virgin allow you to take your bike FOC (in a bag and under 23kgs) so I am thinking of taking mine.

Long shot but anyone been to Tobago and anyone taken their bikes for some road action?

Any help / tips apprecited?

Cheers

Simon

The roads in general suck, pot holes that will eat you and your bike and so fat touring tyres at least. Bring spares as finding a good bike shop will be tricky, if not impossible.

Where are you staying? A couple of the hotels have bikes to borrow, but in general you'll end up repairing them for the hotel.

These guys are great...

...and used to run some great rides (my info is 4 years old)

Drivers will give you only 4mm of space as they pass. They're not being mean, they just think that's all you need.

I used to love riding in Tobago, but it's not for the faint of heart. Scenery is awesome and so are the people. Smacking a coconut that's lying in the middle of the road is a learning experience, but riding for half a day and then chilling out on the beach with your feet in the sea and beer/rum in your hand is a life time experience.

How are you riding in the heat?
