I agree about it being a complete scam... those 'jobs for the boys' board members associated with central government who got all the money from setting up and running CRB checks must have made millions... Miss A_T had to have 4 separate ones for different authorities and organisations... they told her they weren't transferable... I couldn't believe it at the time but she said she checked it out.

I used to get asked for them from people who did not even know what they were for, I get really cross when people ask for them.

They used to be, but then it was changed.

Blimey loads of questions...

tandem is a great idea

yes its to teach kids and adults. You teach em exactly the same but instead of calling it secondary and primary, its position 1 and position 2, but they ride exactly the same as adults. I can do bikeability for kids thro an organisation, which is what we used to call cycling profiency, or i can just teach as an independent but if i do that i cant give a bikeability certificate. They teach kids on the road now instead of just in the playground like the old days.

Got to find out about CRB checks or whatever they are called and insurance, but i suspect if i work as bikeability instructor for an accredited organisation i will be covered under their insurance but if i work independently i will have to get my own insurance.

but all that's something for the future, work actually paid for me to do it because i run the two wheel user group at work and they wanted me to be qualified to give out advice... So i need to uphold my end of the bargain for a few years LOL

The hardest bit was breaking down everything i do seemlessly and teaching and demonstrating in tiny bite size pieces.

I'd be really interested in this Buggi, could you send us a link?

Be interested in what you do with this and I'm glad to hear that children are now being taught on the roads...

I am looking for some occupational inspiration it is true but being a trained Primary teacher who is struggling to get supply, it's not surprising really! The CRB should take a few weeks by the way and the best of luck.

To become a Bikeability Instructor, it's not Bikeability that train you, it's a different organisation and there are only about 6 in the country. They train you to be a National Standards Instructor and then you can either work for yourself or apply to a Bikeability training organisation (usually run by the local council) to train under their umbrella (and use the Bikeability branding)

These are the people that trained me. http://www.cycletrainingwestmidlands.co.uk/ and they are based in the West Midlands.

If you are not in the west mids area have a look at this link, which is the government site for Bikeability and they have details on there of the other training organisations http://www.dft.gov.uk/bikeability/delivering-bikeability/becoming-a-cycle-instructor/
