Toe Clip Straps - Anything to look out for?

Junk-em they are soooo last week. I used to wear them in the 1970's and did't like em then. You can get through a good few 1000 miles on spd's and the ilk. I can't believe they are still in use.They are akin to a betamax video recorder.

No they're not. They serve a purpose if you can't be arsed buying SPD shoes and having to walk around in them for whatever reason. I've just resuscitated a pair of cage peddles [sic] and fifteen year old Christophe leather straps for my new pub-bike build, and it's so refreshing not to have to wear a pair of dorky SPD shoes when out boozing or shopping. And I like the sensation of flipping the pedal up and tightening your shoe with a strap (oo-er mrs etc). I also have SPDs and carbon Time pedals on my other bikes for when I want to go on more serious rides.

Yes, horses for courses, I suppose they do have a purpose as you say if you are wearing normal everyday footware for social trips etc. My experience with peddle straps is not a pleasant one and would not go back to using them. It's what works best for the individual and what suites you sir......ooh
