I am sitting by an open window with snow falling outside, and still I am boiling because the terminally lethargic drones with whom I am cooped up cannot tolerate any temperature below the sub-tropical.

Unfortunately not. It's an electric fan heating system (probably grotesquely inefficient - the management here make a project out of finishing off the ecosphere in double quick time).

If I get a moment when the office is empty, it might be possible to prise the dial off the thermostat, rotate it 10 degrees-worth anticlockwise and put it back on...

In my bit the temp is 2.4 degrees C (just measured it!) and upstairs the air con is blowing out 24C + and there is a fan heater under the desk of the two occupants.

They have to take a day off if I happen to mention exercise.

Still, no-one ventures in so I can CC all day if I choose!

...going to work in a string vest could be handy as an opening ploy in a Colditz style "feigned insanity to get early retirement on medical grounds" attempt though, wouldn't it? If I were you I'd take an imaginary dog on a leash as well, Nick.
