I used to use the phrase "little tyke" until a young female colleague took great offence. A few hours later, when she was talking to me again, I realised that she had never heard the word "tyke" and thought I had called her a "dyke". :biggrin:

Although why she thought it so bad to be compared to an embankment / causeway / ditch (depending on geographical background), I have no idea! :tongue:
