Tonight's le Tour reception in Leeds was fantastic.

Despite road closures in central Leeds I managed to drive up to the road leading to the Arena and met up with colleagues who were also attending the event. There was a great display of stunt riding using trials bikes and a road bike which impressed my colleagues more than me because I'd seen similar versions several times at the York Rally.

I couldn't believe the proximity of the stage when I took my seat. I had a brilliant view of the night's proceedings. The musical interludes were superb - the orchestra of Opera North had a supporting role with other bands including Embrace and Kimberly Walsh as well as playing in their own right. The Chorus of Opera North delivered some great sounds making me want to go to one of their 'lively operas' The video backdrops and vox pop interludes added up to create a perfect package.

I was that I was a Yorkshireman so that I could be proud of it. What better score can I give than saying even if I'd payed full whack for my ticket I still would have considered that I'd had value for money.

Just watching on tv now - recorded earlier as I was at work - and I'm enjoying it sat at home, must have been amazing to be there. Loving the rider interviews - ooh it's Roche and Contador now!
