Got my kit on and went to get the bike out of the shed this morning and found I had a flat rear tyre. Ah well I thought let's change the tyres from the Michelin Pro Race 3 and get the Gatorskins on and mend the inner tube.

Half an hour later all done and dusted and saw that our new puppy had got grease all over its back from the bike chain by running under the bike. OK no problem got it cleaned off and now ready to ride.

Within 50 yards I was very nearly been blown off twice by strong gusts. Very dodgy so came home. After all that, Bu**ger!

Still, it's all sorted for next time, I guess

Tomorrow I'm going for a ride from Penrith to Haltwhistle, taking the train back to Carlisle and going home. The plan is to get blown there by a huge tailwind, as I'll mostly be travelling in a NE direction...well that's the theory...

Those Northerners just don't realise how tough the weather is down south, Bill:biggrin:

I'm off for a long weekend in the Peaks on Thursday with the bike so I'm expecting some balmy weather to have arrived by then!

Forecast to be very windy around that area tomorrow! Mind how you go.

I got the road bike out today for the first time in almost a month , to do some 15 mile loops.
When cycling with a tailwind I had trouble overtaking dried leaves , and on the 4th lap I noticed I was doing under 10 mph in to the wind. The whole ride took closer to five hours than the four to which I normally aspire.
When I got home I was more tired that after a Dun Run.
