There's loads this year. I've evicted many over the wall but a couple didn't make it when I unexpectedly stumbled into them and crushed them in a fit of pique.

I've been going out regularly and evicting them now as I can't get to the shed without milling my arms about to clear the way. I'm sure the neighbours think I've become more demented than normal.

Anyone else suffering an outbreak of Geoffs?

No pictures but it is a daily routine for me to go up my back garden steps waving my arms and pulling spider silk off my face, the damn things seem to spend all night spinning webs across from the fence to the garden wall.

ditto, my other half is exactly the same regards spiders. The kids (all grown up now) used to take great delight in placing a piece of fluff on her shoulder when we were out in the car, they would shriek with laughing at her reaction upon seeing the fluff

I'm not sure how they get the web from the washing line to the floor and where they start it. If I don't evict them far enough, the web's back the next day, in the same place. Pretty astonishing really.

I seem to have a spider that lives on my car somewhere, and likes to set out her dining area between the passenger door mirror and the car body. She's a hardy soul, seemingly impervious to buckets and sponges or east Europeans wielding jet-washes.

I try to live and let live and just evict the ones that come indoors, but my eight-legged house guests are testing their welcome this year. The laundry basket should be out of bounds to save me from wash day heart attacks, and the one who spun a web in the garden big enough to catch the dog was pushing his luck as well. Still, nothing has yet to measure up to the year spiderlings appeared all over the bathroom and proceeded to spread out and disappear, only to grow up and spin webs all over the wretched house. That is the last year I see them and think, "Oh, you cute little eight-legged buttons."

My wife was bitten on the neck by a spider last week.

I didn't know we had venomous spiders in the UK. Swelled up quite a bit.

Was a False Widow, probably.
